I´m also in the process of starting a GoogleGroups e-mail list to send my sporadic ponderings and updates to friends around the world. Once I convince google to let me I´m going to add everyone whose address I already have and send out a message, but if you´d like to add yourself to (or, remove yourself from) my list click on the new link over to the right.
One suggestion we´ve gotten already is to integrate a map where we could put in our route along the way. Personally I think it´s a fantastic idea, but I don´t really have a sense of how to do that. I´ve put a couple maps on the flickr site for the countries we´ve been to. And, if you click on them and go to the flickr site you can roll your mouse over them to see little comments showing places we´ve been and things we´ve done.
Guatemala
or
Honduras
You can always find these maps by going to our Flickr site and searching for "map." But that doesn´t show a path where you can see us working our way down and it´s about impossible to read any map that has more than one of these small countries on it. Does anyone out there have any advice?
I understand the need to organize the pictures as you are getting so many but I must say I miss having the new pics alongside the most recent articles. I like to review them as I read the articles and don't like to have to scan all the way down to the bottom of the page. Also I usually only have time to look at the new ones. Probably I have to just get used to the new system.
ReplyDeleteOK I just figured out the maps. Very cool!
ReplyDeleteHey, guys! What if you just set up a brief "travel/progress" page showing maps for the places you've visited - using some basic image editing of adding a line (via MS Paint, etc.) - and a listing and/or maps of your upcoming destinations? Be well and have fun!
ReplyDeletei think one of the dopest thigns you could do would be to use google earth to track your travels and publish the saved .kmz files so ppl could load a slideshow of all theplaces you've been to.

hmmm, yeah: you could even use google's new SatPics - cheers!
ReplyDeleteI am not getting the "sketch" or recent pictures on the Right side of the articles anymore. They are at the very bottom of the page. Is this part of the new design? or is it just not coming up on my computer? What ever it is I miss that feature
ReplyDeleteOkay I figured it out. I had my text size too large, the side pictures and links simply wouldn't fit. I corrected it and the site looks fine. Just a little small is all.
